Luca Veronesi, Director of Padova Hall: “A negative impact that could be long lasting. There is great uncertainty about the future”
Entirely new online formats for already scheduled events thanks to an innovative platform and the redefinition of the exhibition calendar for the next few months. These are the first decisions adopted by Padova Hall in light of the latest Government decree, in force since Monday October 26, which outlines the immediate suspension of all trade fairs. A rapid response will allow us to provide quick solutions to companies and exhibitors in this new and delicate phase for the entire sector.
Starting with Green Logistics Intermodal Forum (November 12-13), the fairs which were initially planned as hybrid (a mix of physical and virtual events) have been transformed into digital online events. The same solution will be adopted by Flormart Green City Forum, the show dedicated to urban and technological green spaces scheduled for December 1. On the other hand, Tuttinfiera (scheduled for October 31-November 1) the fair dedicated to antiques and vintage collectables, electronics and games, cannot be held on the virtual platform for organisational reasons, and has been canceled and rescheduled for 2021. Arte Padova, Africa ArchitecTour and the Festa del’’Oriente have also been postponed until 2021.
“Despite the long-lasting negative impact that effects the entire exhibition sector, the latest developments have not caught us unprepared – says Luca Veronesi, Director of Padova Hall, the company that owns the Fiera di Padova brand – In recent months we worked with our communities in adopting new and innovative solutions. The digital platform is a tool that Fiera di Padova offers to its exhibitors and visitors in order to facilitate matching supply and demand and business opportunities. This innovate system, fundamental for the present situation, we recognise, however, will never replace a physical fair: as the previous lockdown demonstrated, digital platforms can be an important hybrid alternative, but not a substitute, for meeting face to face. This is why we are already working on the calendar of events for next year. We are convinced and also aware that this moment of absolute uncertainty for the trade fair sector risks having such an impact, even to the point of jeopardising the results for 2021. When fairs will eventually be allowed to recommence their activities, it will take time to regain the necessary trust from our target markets and strong economic support will be needed to permit and support these markets as catalysts for the production system of the nation”.
The new digital platform of Fiera di Padova
The new digital platform is a fully configurable and “customisable” tool which responds to the engagement objectives of exhibitors which allows companies to expand their commercial contacts and business opportunities. More than just a simple online showcase or e-commerce platform, this is a genuine digital trade fair which offers a new way for supply and demand to meet, with a rich schedule of meetings, matching and webinars. This digital tool will be used for the first time with Green Logistics Intermodal Forum in order to keep pace with the innovative business models that are revolutionising the exhibition industry and at the same time offering new opportunities in line with current health and safety requirements.
