Africa ArchitecTour, the excellences of Made in Italy meet African buyers

Jun 24, 2021

This is the appointment that inaugurates for Fiera di Padova the recommencement of its events calendar: on 1 and 2 July the Fair district will open its gates for the first edition of Africa ArchitecTour, the international B2B Fair – with limited access by invitation – created to encourage business opportunities among Italian furniture design and interior furnishings companies and distributors, contractors, architects and designers on the African continent.

An anticipated event, organized by Fiera di Padova and conceived by carefully listening to market operators and established on solid foundations thanks to support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ICE – Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies, and in collaboration with Venicepromex – Agency for internationalization, Chamber of Commerce of Verona and Made in Vicenza, as part of the promotional program shared and co-financed by the Veneto Region.

“A specific geographic focus on an emerging market that is still in part hardly explored, an intense program of targeted matching meetings and the choice to limited entry by invitation: the format of this new event – explains Luca Veronesi, general manager di Padova Hall, the company that manages Fiera di Padova – was designed to maximize the effectiveness of exchanges. This project is only just beginning and will continue in the coming years its dialogue with businesses operating in this sector. A special thanks goes out to the companies that believed in us and in the value of this venture from the outset”.

Africa ArchitecTour is a unique opportunity for Made in Italy companies to meet the markets of a continent that represents the second fastest growing area on the planet and where – according to data from the African Development Bank’s Outlook 2020 – investments make up over 50% of GDP growth (figure for 2019). Not only that: the region of Sub-Saharan Africa is the area that records the strongest growth in our exports (+ 6% in 2019).

Confirming the interest that this new appointment is already arousing, also the fact that professionals arriving from the African continent have confirmed their participation despite the fact that Covid has twice imposed a postponement of the show and despite the difficulties associated with international travel.

Over 60 Italian exhibitors: a selection of top-level companies including some of the largest and most renowned names in Italian design and architecture, high-end furniture companies, companies in the lighting, window and door sector, leading brands in the field of home automation and electrical engineering, suppliers of raw materials for construction, manufacturers of furnishing accessories and luxury interior design and beyond, from Murano glass to mosaics to decorations in stucco.

The exhibition space will be accompanied by a busy schedule of pre-established one-to-one matching meetings, in order to facilitate the effectiveness of exchanges.

Among the incoming buyers – African professionals will be represented, but also realities from other countries operating in Africa – include architects, contractors with active experience in large projects and distributors capable of amplifying business opportunities.

The event required a considerable organizational effort to ensure full compliance with anti-contagion regulations: professionals arriving from abroad (who are subject to the obligation to swab before departure) will then be able to access the swab service with issue of a report in English prepared at the Fair in order to easily fulfill the obligation of molecular tests before returning to their country.
